Help keep this research free and independent
There are no ads, sponsors or affiliate links here. If these pages have been useful to you, a donation helps keep it that way.
Why donations matter
We don't sell anything. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored posts, and we have no financial relationship with any product or brand mentioned here. That is what lets us say when the evidence is thin, or when a popular product isn't worth buying.
Careful research is slow. Reading a study, checking that the citation really says what the article says, and revisiting a page when new evidence appears all take time, and so does keeping the site fast, reliable and online.
Donations go toward hosting, email delivery and the work of checking and updating sources. The code behind the site is open source and every article's edit history is public, and we'd like to be just as open about what comes in and what it pays for.
How giving works
- Stripe handles the payment. You enter your details on Stripe's page, not ours.
- We keep very little. Just the amount, the date and a scrambled (hashed) version of your email so we can tell how many people give more than once. Stripe holds the rest.
- Monthly gifts are easy to change. You can update your card or cancel at any time from the link on the thank-you page or in Stripe's receipt email, or from Stripe's donor page (it emails you a sign-in link).
- Giving doesn't change what the research says.
