Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water, 750 mL glass

Reader ratings
Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water, 750 mL glass

Italian still spring water in glass. FDA found no PFAS in six US samples, but we could not open the maker’s 2025 report, and Italian tests in 2025 found TFA, a very short PFAS, in Panna sold in Italy.

Best for Someone who prefers Acqua Panna’s taste and wants the maker’s full report and a TFA result before making it a habit.

Why we chose it What put it on our list 4 points
    • FDA’s 2023 to 2024 survey (results posted March 2025) tested six Acqua Panna samples bought at US retail and imported from Italy (sample IDs 1153663, 1188964, 1202237, 1219075, 1234311 and 1238425). None had any of the 18 PFAS FDA tested for above the lab’s reporting limits of 0.23 to 0.32 ng/L.
    • Vermont’s list of bottlers with non-detect PFAS results includes Acqua Panna SpA, with a sample dated 21 March 2019. The results were submitted by the company.
    • The source is named: a spring on the Panna Estate near Florence, with water that the maker says takes an average of 14 years to travel through rock.
    • The maker links a 2025 water analysis report from its US site and shows a short mineral summary: calcium 33, alkalinity 87, fluoride not detected, total dissolved solids 150 mg/L, pH 8 at the source.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy 4 points
    • We could not read the maker’s full report. Acquapanna.com blocks automated fetches, so we could not read the 2025 PDF and have not seen its PFAS, arsenic and nitrate rows. The product page shows only the five values above.
    • Two Italian tests found trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), a very short-chain PFAS, in Panna sold in Italy. Greenpeace Italia (9 October 2025) bought 16 bottles of eight brands at one Rome supermarket, sent them to two labs and reported TFA in six brands, with Panna highest at 700 ng/L in one sample and no other PFAS found. Altroconsumo (21 May 2025) rated Panna insufficient for TFA above 0.5 µg/L, the EU’s total-PFAS drinking-water level from 2026. The industry body Mineracqua answered that no legal limit for TFA exists and that mineral waters carry less TFA than tap water. FDA’s PFAS panel does not include TFA, and Altroconsumo noted that the EU has no limit for TFA itself. The EPA has none either.
    • The maker publishes no price, and we found no normal retail price for the glass pack, only third-party resellers at about $4.05 to $4.67 a bottle. The maker does not state its cap and liner materials.
    • Glass is not plastic-free. A 2025 study by France’s food-safety agency (ANSES) found 4.5 plastic particles per liter in water bottled in glass, against 1.6 in plastic bottles and cartons, and says they probably came from the paint on metal caps. ANSES calls the water counts relatively low whatever the container and cannot say what they mean for health.
What to know Details worth knowing first

Acqua Panna is a still spring water from the Panna Estate near Florence, sold in glass from 250 mL to 1 L. The outside evidence is mostly good: in FDA’s 2023 to 2024 survey, none of six samples had any of the 18 PFAS it tested for. Our guide to what PFAS are explains why that matters.

Two things are open. We could not read the maker’s 2025 report, so its own PFAS, arsenic and nitrate figures are unchecked. And two Italian tests in 2025 found TFA, a very short PFAS that FDA did not test for, in Panna sold in Italy. One used a yardstick the industry disputes, both tested bottles sold in Italy, and we do not know whether US bottles differ.

For everyday drinking, a certified home filter is usually cheaper and lower-waste: see our water filter picks and the guide to tap versus bottled water.

How Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water, 750 mL glass measures up against our bottled water criteria
What we checked What we found
A water-quality report Not verified A 2025 report is linked from the maker’s US site, but we could not open it. The product page shows only five values (calcium 33, alkalinity 87, fluoride not detected, total dissolved solids 150 mg/L, pH 8). We have not seen its PFAS, arsenic or nitrate rows.
Low PFAS Verified All 18 PFAS FDA tested for were below its 0.23 to 0.32 ng/L reporting limits in six samples bought at US retail in 2023 and 2024. Vermont’s list shows non-detect results from 2019. TFA is not in FDA’s panel; see the next check.
TFA, a very short PFAS Not verified Detected at 700 ng/L in one sample by Greenpeace Italia and rated insufficient by Altroconsumo (May 2025), in bottles sold in Italy. No US test of TFA in this water was found.
Glass or aluminum, cap and liner stated Not verified Glass in 250 mL, 500 mL, 750 mL and 1 L, described as fully recyclable. Cap and liner materials are not stated on the pages we opened.
A named source and treatment Maker’s claim Source named: the Panna Estate near Florence, Tuscany, with an average 14-year journey through rock, per the maker. No treatment is described on the pages we could open.
Minerals stated Maker’s claim Calcium 33, alkalinity 87 (as CaCO3), total dissolved solids 150 mg/L, pH 8 at the source, fluoride not detected. Sodium and magnesium are not on the product page.
Notices and recalls Verified We found no California Prop 65 notice and no FDA or CPSC recall naming Acqua Panna when we searched on 22 Oct 2026.
    What the labels mean
    • Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
    • Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
    • Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
