Salt & minerals
Unrefined salts with dated lab results and honest mineral claims.
What we look for
We look for
- Nothing added: no anti-caking agents, dextrose or bleaching. The ingredient list is just salt.
- Dated lab results: lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury results from a named lab, on a recent sample.
- Honest mineral claims: trace minerals stated per serving, not “rich in 80 minerals”.
- Clear iodine status: it says whether the salt is iodized, since iodine still matters.
- Source and drying method: where it is harvested or mined, and whether it is sun- or kiln-dried.
We avoid
- “Detox”, “alkalizing” or “balances your body” claims.
- Lab reports with no lab name, date or sample ID.
- Colored or flavored salts that do not list every additive.

Baja GoldBaja Gold Signature Mineral Sea Salt
Sun-dried sea salt whose maker posts dated heavy-metal reports from named labs, including an October 2026 Eurofins result of 50.4 ppb lead. It is not iodized, and its sodium claim needs a closer look. -
RedmondRedmond Real Salt, Fine (26 oz pouch)
Unrefined salt mined in Utah with nothing added, and an elemental analysis published. The analysis is a multi-year summary of third-party tests, not a report on any batch, and the salt is not iodized.
