How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- It states vitamin A. The product page lists 969 IU per 3 g serving, about 290 mcg RAE (our arithmetic), roughly a tenth of the 3,000 mcg a day ceiling in our vitamin A guide. Most liver capsules we reviewed give no figure.
- Lot reports are public. The product page links a microbial report for each of 50 lots from May 2020 to May 2026. The newest we opened (lot F121601, finished 4 May 2026, Advanced Laboratories) found no E. coli, Salmonella or Staphylococcus aureus in 10 g and a total aerobic count of 420 CFU/g.
- The Detox Project’s public list of Glyphosate Residue Free products includes Perfect Desiccated Liver in capsule and powder form. Perfect links an Anresco report (the report states ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation) for lot F060403: glyphosate and AMPA not detected at a 10 ppb limit.
- The label is one ingredient: Desiccated Beef Liver Powder (Argentina Grass-Fed), 3,000 mg per serving, in a cellulose capsule with no fillers or flow agents. Perfect says the liver is undefatted and vacuum dried at very low temperatures.
- It is among the cheapest options we found: about $0.87 a day for the capsules, or about $0.48 a day for the 180 g powder at one 3 g scoop.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- Heavy metals are sampled, not posted for every lot. Perfect says its results are examples from past spot tests. The April 2025 sample (lot E091108, Advanced Laboratories) found lead at 0.217 ppm, cadmium 0.107 ppm, arsenic 0.053 ppm and mercury 0.001 ppm. At 3 g a day, that lead level is about 0.65 µg (our arithmetic), higher than in Perfect’s older lots. Ask Perfect for the report for the lot you buy.
- No PFAS results are posted. California’s Prop 65 notice database (checked 22 October 2026) lists PFOS or PFNA notices for liver supplements from Heart & Soil (AG 2025-04599, filed 10 November 2025), Ancestral Supplements (AG 2026-00888, filed 26 February 2026) and Paleovalley (AG 2026-02612, filed 3 June 2026), and none for Perfect’s liver. It does list two lead notices against Perfect, one from 2021 for unnamed “dietary supplements” (AG 2021-02251) and one from 2026 for its Aquatic Greens (AG 2026-00838). Notices are allegations, and a missing notice is not a test result. See our PFAS guide.
- Liver carries preformed vitamin A. The label tells pregnant or nursing women to consult a physician first; if you could become pregnant, ask before you start. Perfect’s page says four capsules a day will not cause a vitamin A overdose, which is the maker’s opinion, not a trial result.
- Several claims rest on the maker: Argentine origin and grass-fed (an origin statement and health certificate, but no farm names and no audit), and the vitamin A figure (a lab results table that names no lab and has no date, and is not on the Supplement Facts panel).
What to know Details worth knowing first
Liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods, and our guide to beef liver says it probably helps close gaps in B12, retinol, copper and choline. No trial has tested liver capsules. This product is the plain version: one ingredient, no blend, no fillers.
It earns its place for what it tells you. Most liver capsules give no vitamin A figure, which is the number that matters if you take other vitamin A or might be pregnant. Perfect states it, posts lot-by-lot microbial reports and links lab reports for metals and glyphosate. The Detox Project lists the product as Glyphosate Residue Free, which we could check ourselves.
Two limits. Perfect’s heavy-metal results are samples rather than every lot, and no PFAS results are posted for any liver capsule we reviewed. If either matters to you, ask Perfect for the report for your lot. For the basics, see retinol and immune health and how to tell if a supplement is pure.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist

- Advanced Laboratories (microbial, metals) and Anresco (glyphosate), commissioned by Perfect; Detox Project listing
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| Named sourcing Maker’s claim | Argentina, on the label and the product page. Perfect links an origin statement and an Argentine health certificate. No farms are named and no certifier backs the grass-fed claim. |
| Pathogens tested by lot Verified | Perfect says it tests each batch and links 50 lot reports. In lot F121601 (finished 4 May 2026, Advanced Laboratories, Clayton, NC) E. coli, Salmonella, S. aureus and Pseudomonas were absent in 10 g; total aerobic count 420 CFU/g; yeast and mold under 10 CFU/g. |
| Heavy metals tested Verified | Perfect posts sample results from past spot tests, not every lot. Lot E091108 (29 April 2025, Advanced Laboratories, ICP-MS): lead 0.217 ppm, cadmium 0.107 ppm, arsenic 0.053 ppm, mercury 0.001 ppm. |
| Glyphosate Verified | Listed by the Detox Project as Glyphosate Residue Free (capsules and powder). Anresco report for lot F060403 (23 October 2025): glyphosate and AMPA not detected. |
| Amounts per serving, and vitamin A Maker’s claim | Liver 3,000 mg per 4 capsules, on the label. Vitamin A, 969 IU per 3 g, is on the product page, from a lab results table with no lab name or date. |
| Gentle processing Maker’s claim | Undefatted liver, vacuum dried at very low temperatures, says Perfect. It is not described as freeze-dried. |
| A plain label Maker’s claim | One ingredient plus a cellulose capsule. The label says no fillers or flow agents. |
| PFAS Not verified | No PFAS results posted. No California Prop 65 notice names this product (checked 22 October 2026), though a 2021 lead notice against Perfect covers unnamed “dietary supplements”. |

Alternatives Other options to compare
- Perfect Desiccated Liver powder (180 g) The same liver as a powder, about $29 for 180 g. One 3 g scoop a day is about $0.48 a day.
- Fresh grass-fed liver, once or twice a week Cooked liver gives the same nutrients without a capsule. Our guide covers portions, vitamin A and pregnancy.
- Another liver capsule with a listing from a certifier Compare what each label states: vitamin A per serving, a named lab with lot reports, and any certifier listing. Heart & Soil’s Pure American Liver is listed by NSF Certified for Sport, but its page carries a California PFAS warning and no vitamin A figure.
