Rishi Simple Brew Loose Leaf Teapot

A borosilicate glass pot with a stainless-steel strainer lid. Rishi names the materials, but one check of its Amazon listing showed a Prop 65 lead warning that Rishi does not explain, and no country of origin is given.

Best for Loose-leaf drinkers who want a glass pot with a built-in strainer and will wait for Rishi to explain the lead warning.

Why we chose it What put it on our list 3 points
    • Rishi names the materials: a borosilicate glass body with a stainless-steel strainer lid. The strainer unscrews from the lid for cleaning, and the page lists no plastic part.
    • It costs $29 for 400 mL, $34 for 600 mL and $42 for 1,000 mL, and is dishwasher safe. Rishi says not to heat it on a stovetop or in a microwave.
    • The Amazon listing is sold by Rishi itself, not by a third-party seller, and Rishi’s page shows 4.6 stars from 261 reviews.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy 4 points
    • The lead warning is unexplained. One check of Amazon’s listing showed: “This product can expose you to chemicals including lead which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.” Two later checks from a Georgia delivery address, the latest on 22 October 2026, showed only “Do not heat in microwave”, so the warning may be shown to California addresses only. Rishi’s own page has no such statement and does not say which part is the source.
    • Rishi’s photos show its name printed on the glass. Lead Safe Mama, an advocacy group, reported in 2022 that another glass teapot brand had removed lead-painted logos, so decoration is one possible source. We do not know whether it is the source here.
    • Neither page gives a country of origin, and Rishi’s store data lists the supplier as Eilong Enterprise Co., Ltd. The handle and any gasket are not described in the text.
    • Rishi’s review summary mentions glass breaking after minor drops, a thin handle and a lid that is hard to fit.
What to know Details worth knowing first

Rishi’s Simple Brew is a borosilicate glass pot with a stainless-steel strainer in the lid. You add leaves, steep and pour, and the description lists no plastic parts. That makes it a sensible fit for the advice in loose leaf vs. tea bags.

What holds it back is one line we saw on Amazon’s page: a California Prop 65 warning that the pot can expose you to lead. Two later checks from outside California did not show it, which fits Amazon showing these warnings to California addresses only. Rishi’s own page says nothing about it. Prop 65 warnings are sometimes added as a precaution, so this is not proof of a problem, but we do not know which part triggers it, and Rishi does not say.

We are asking Rishi what the warning covers and for a lead and cadmium test of the finished pot. Until then, the Hario pot in our list has the same materials, a stated origin for each part and no warning.
