Crafti Ceremonial Organic Matcha
Reader ratings
Organic matcha from a young brand, about $0.80 a gram. USDA lists it as organic, but no lead figure or lab report is published, and the origin is “Uji/Kagoshima”. Every matcha with an outside test had lead; there are no numbers here.
Best for Matcha drinkers who like the price and are willing to wait for Crafti’s lab reports before making it a daily habit.

How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- The USDA Organic Integrity Database lists Crafti Collective, Inc. and Crafti Collective Pte. Ltd. (certifier Control Union), each with “Tea (Ceremonial Organic Matcha Powder)” among its certified products, effective 31 Jul 2026.
- Crafti says each batch is tested for arsenic, lead and cadmium and for radiation (under 100 Bq/kg of cesium), and that matcha leaves Japan only if it is under Japanese limits.
- At $23.95 for 30 g (about $0.80 a gram) it costs about half as much per gram as Matchaful’s Kiwami in the 30 g tin ($1.63 a gram).
- Crafti says the matcha is first harvest and stone ground, comes in an opaque tin, and should be kept in the refrigerator and used within three to four months.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- No lead figure is published, so there is no per-serving number to give. The FAQ names no lab, shows no result and does not say what the Japanese limits are. We found no outside lab test of Crafti. Every matcha we found with an outside test had lead; Matchaful’s reports put its three products at about 50 to 114 ppb, roughly 0.1 to 0.5 µg per 2 to 4 g serving.
- The origin is vague. Crafti’s page says “Uji/Kagoshima”, Amazon’s says “Kyoto Uji”, and no farm is named for this product. Crafti says it packs in Japan or in an SFA-certified facility in Singapore.
- The organic listing is new: both USDA entries are effective from 31 Jul 2026 and cover handling, not farms. Crafti’s site also says the matcha is certified organic under the Japanese Agricultural Standards, which we could not check.
- The page leans on health claims we do not endorse, such as “Four to six hours of steady, focused energy”.
What to know Details worth knowing first
Crafti sells a ceremonial-grade organic matcha at about half the per-gram price of Matchaful, the brand whose lab reports we can read. The USDA database confirms the organic listing for Crafti’s two operating companies, which is the one claim we could check.
The claim that matters most for matcha is the lead result, because you drink the whole leaf (see our matcha guide). Crafti says every batch is tested for lead, cadmium and arsenic, but it names no lab and shows no numbers, so there is no per-serving figure to give. Every matcha we found with an outside test had lead in it. For scale, Matchaful’s reports show about 50 to 114 ppb, which is roughly 0.1 to 0.5 µg of lead per 2 to 4 g serving, against California’s Prop 65 level of 0.5 µg a day (see its Kiwami page for the arithmetic).
If Crafti sends batch reports from a named lab, we will add its own per-serving numbers here. The origin also needs a straight answer: Uji, Kagoshima, or a blend.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| Tested for lead and pesticides Maker’s claim | Crafti’s FAQ says each batch is tested for arsenic, lead and cadmium and for radiation, and its “Why Crafti” page says third-party labs screen for heavy metals, radiation, microorganisms and additives. No lab is named and no results are shown. |
| Organic Verified | Crafti Collective, Inc. (Lewes, Delaware; NOP ID 1780917093) and Crafti Collective Pte. Ltd. (Singapore; NOP ID 1780917094) are certified by Control Union Certifications under the USDA National Organic Program, status effective 31 Jul 2026, with handling scope. Both list “Tea (Ceremonial Organic Matcha Powder)”. |
| Named origin Maker’s claim | “Uji/Kagoshima, Japan” on Crafti’s page and “Kyoto Uji” on Amazon’s. No farm is named for this product. |
| Loose leaf or plastic-free bags Maker’s claim | A powder in an opaque tin; Amazon’s listing says there is an airtight foil bag inside. No tea bag is involved. |
| Freshness Maker’s claim | Crafti says to refrigerate the powder and use it within three to four months, and says it is packed in Japan or in Singapore. No harvest year is stated. |
| Notices and recalls Verified | We found no California Prop 65 notices and no FDA or CPSC recalls naming Crafti when we searched on 22 Oct 2026. |
What the labels mean
- Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
- Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
- Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
