Frieling Double-Wall Stainless Steel French Press
Reader ratings
A double-wall 18/10 stainless steel press that Frieling calls “100% stainless steel, no plastic anywhere”, with a 5-year warranty and sold spare parts. All claims are Frieling’s own, and French press coffee is unfiltered.

Your review
Reviews are personal experiences, not research, and they never change our quality ratings. Every review is read by our team before it appears.
How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- Steel throughout. Frieling’s coffee page says “100% double-wall stainless steel, no plastic anywhere”, and its store describes 18/10 stainless steel inside and out.
- No plastic is listed. The one other steel press we checked, Espro’s P7, lists its materials as “Stainless Steel, Polypropylene”; Frieling’s pages list none.
- Every wearing part is sold: plunger assembly, lid, plunger stick, spiral plate, two-piece screen, metal cross and nut, for every size and finish.
- A 5-year warranty and dishwasher-safe parts, both stated by the maker.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- No independent testing is published. The pages we read do not say where the press is made or name a gasket or seal material.
- French press coffee is unfiltered. Our coffee page says paper filters remove cafestol and kahweol, which French press and espresso retain, so a paper-filter brewer suits you better if LDL cholesterol is a concern.
- It costs $114.95 to $159.95 on Frieling’s own store, roughly four to five times the price of a ceramic dripper.
- Choose a plain stainless finish. The lacquered colors add a painted exterior, which we did not look into.
What to know Details worth knowing first
A French press is the one brewer where steel can do everything: the pot, the lid, the plunger and the filter. Frieling makes one in double-wall 18/10 stainless steel and says there is no plastic anywhere in it. That is a stronger statement than the other steel press we checked: Espro’s P7 lists polypropylene among its materials.
The catch is the coffee, not the pot. French press brewing leaves oils in the cup, and our coffee page notes that paper filters remove the diterpenes (cafestol and kahweol) that raise LDL cholesterol, which French press and espresso retain. If that matters to you, a paper-filter brewer is the better choice.
Everything here is Frieling’s own description. We found no lab report, and the pages do not name the seal material, so treat the “no plastic” line as a maker’s claim. The practical case for it is simple: steel itself cannot shed microplastics into hot coffee, it does not break, and every part can be replaced.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| Inert materials in the hot path Maker’s claim | 18/10 double-wall stainless steel body, lid and filter, “no plastic anywhere”, stated by Frieling. |
| Lead-free brass Maker’s claim | Not applicable: no brass or other non-steel metal is described. |
| No non-stick coatings Maker’s claim | None described for the stainless finishes. The lacquered colors have a painted exterior. |
| Filters you can name Maker’s claim | The press’s own patented three-piece stainless steel filter (screen, spiral plate, metal cross); no paper to buy. |
| Built to last Maker’s claim | 5-year warranty; replacement plunger assembly, lid, plunger stick, spiral plate, screen set, metal cross and nut sold for every size; dishwasher safe. |
| Independent testing Not verified | None found. Seal or gasket material is not named. |
| California Prop 65 notices Verified | No notice naming Frieling in the California Attorney General’s 60-day notice database (searched 2026-10-22). A 2026 notice (AG 2026-04804, lead) covers other makers’ French presses with decorated exteriors. |
| Recalls Verified | No Frieling recall in the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database (title search, 2026-10-22). |
What the labels mean
- Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
- Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
- Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.

Where to buy Other stores and the prices we saw
- Amazon approx. $140 for the 36 fl oz brushed. Sold by BigKitchen, a third-party seller, not by Frieling.
Prices as we saw them on October 22, 2026. They change often. These links carry no tracking code and earn us nothing.
Alternatives Other options to compare
- Chemex Classic Six Cup Glass and paper filters instead of steel, about $50. Paper filters remove the cafestol that a press leaves in.
- Hario V60 ceramic dripper The cheapest route to a low-plastic cup, at about $30.
