How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- AHAM’s directory lists the LAP-C341S-WUSZ at a smoke CADR of 161 (dust 161, pollen 172) and a 250 sq ft room. Our two-thirds rule gives about 240 sq ft.
- CARB lists the model as Mechanical (notified 2026-06-30, order G-26-154). By CARB’s definition that means filtration only, with no ozone or ions.
- Levoit says the filter captures 99.97% of 0.3 µm particles, based on ASTM F3150-18 and independent third-party testing, and calls the machine fully sealed. It names no lab.
- Filter prices and schedule are published: HEPA filter $39.99, rated up to 2 years; carbon filters $19.99 to $34.99, rated 6 to 12 months.
- Levoit rates it at 20 dB in sleep mode and 50 dB at the top speed, drawing 25.5 W.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- Levoit’s maker, Vesync, is settling a New York class action (Sen v. Vesync) over its “HEPA” and “H13” wording on older Core and EverestAir models. Vesync denies wrongdoing and the case does not name the Eleva, but the 99.97% figure here also has no report behind it.
- Levoit does not say how much carbon its carbon filters hold, so we cannot say how much this will do for gases or odors.
- It is new: CARB first listed it on 2026-06-30 and Amazon lists it as first available on 2026-07-10, so there is little time on the market to judge it.
- Rooms above about 240 sq ft need a bigger model.
What to know Details worth knowing first
The Eleva 300X is a small cylinder with a particle filter, a separate carbon filter and a four-speed fan. That is the design our air purifier guide points to: a HEPA filter does the work on fine particles, and the machine adds nothing to your air.
What sets it apart at this price is paperwork anyone can check. CARB’s list carries the exact model number as a mechanical cleaner, and AHAM’s directory carries its CADR. Size your room by that number. Levoit’s own room size (250 sq ft) matches AHAM’s; our rule trims it to about 240.
Two cautions. The HEPA figure is Levoit’s own, and the company is settling a class action over HEPA wording on older models. And a particle filter does not remove gases: see indoor pollutants, and our look at whether purifiers improve health. Change the filters on schedule.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist
- Third-party tested

- AHAM Verifide (CADR); CARB (listing)
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| True HEPA Maker’s claim | Levoit says it captures 99.97% of 0.3 µm particles, “based on ASTM F3150-18 test standard, based on independent third-party testing”. It does not name the lab, and we found no report. |
| No ozone (CARB listing) Verified | CARB’s list has Levoit LAP-C341S-WUSZ as type Mechanical, notified 2026-06-30, order G-26-154. The product page mentions no ionizer, plasma or UV stage. |
| Right size (CADR) Verified | AHAM’s directory lists LAP-C341S-WUSZ (Eleva 300X): room size 250 sq ft; smoke, dust and PM2.5 CADR 161; pollen 172. Our two-thirds rule: about 240 sq ft. |
| Carbon for gases Maker’s claim | A replaceable activated carbon filter ships with it, and Levoit sells four types ($19.99 to $34.99). The amount of carbon is not stated. |
| Running cost and noise Maker’s claim | HEPA filter $39.99, up to 2 years (tested to a 50% fall in CADR at 12 hours a day on the top speed); carbon filter 6 to 12 months. 20 to 50 dB. |
What the labels mean
- Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
- Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
- Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
