Why we chose it What put it on our list 4 points
    • MADE SAFE’s directory lists Meliora’s Dish Soap Bar among eight Meliora products shown as certified.
    • The unscented bar lists vegetable soap only: sodium cocoate, sodium sunflowerate, glycerin, water, organic coconut oil and organic sunflower seed oil. Meliora’s ingredients page prints the same list for each scent.
    • It comes in a recyclable paperboard box, or with no packaging at all as a “zero-waste” bar. Meliora says it is vegan and Leaping Bunny certified.
    • Price is clear: $10.99 for a 7 oz bar, or $30.99 for three package-free bars.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy 4 points
    • The page gives no number of washes per bar, so we cannot work out a cost per use.
    • The only independent mark we could confirm is MADE SAFE. EPA’s Safer Choice table has no Meliora rows, and EWG Verified lists none of its cleaners.
    • It is a soap, and the page does not say how it performs on greasy pans or in hard water.
    • The lemon bar is scented with lemon peel oil, which Meliora’s own ingredients page marks as containing fragrance allergens. Choose Unscented to avoid that.
What to know Details worth knowing first

Dish soap stays on plates and hands, so the label matters. Our guide to common cleaning products recommends plain soap and water for most cleaning, and a bar of coconut and sunflower oil soap is about as plain as it gets.

Meliora’s bar is on this list because MADE SAFE’s directory shows it as certified and because the ingredient list is six items long. That is one independent mark. We found no Safer Choice or EWG Verified listing, and Meliora does not say how many washes a bar lasts.

It suits people who want no plastic and no fragrance. If you prefer a pump bottle, see the ECOS dish soap below.
