Reviews are personal experiences, not research, and they never change our quality ratings. Every review is read by our team before it appears.

Why we chose it What put it on our list 4 points
    • NSF’s Certified for Sport database lists “Magnesium Bisglycinate” from Momentous: capsule, 60 count, serving size 2 capsules. The listing shows its lot field as “All”.
    • Momentous posts certificates of analysis. We opened the one for lot 0136D6 (made 04/2026): magnesium measured 231.1 mg per two capsules against 200 mg on the label, arsenic 0.002, lead 0.010 and cadmium and mercury under 0.001 µg a day, no gluten above 20 ppm, and no Salmonella, E. coli or Staph. aureus.
    • The form is magnesium bisglycinate, which our guide to the types of magnesium describes as well absorbed and the gentlest on the stomach. The label gives the elemental amount: 100 mg per capsule, 200 mg per serving.
    • At $16.99 for 30 servings it costs about $0.57 a serving. That is roughly two thirds of the per-serving price of our Thorne magnesium bisglycinate powder ($0.87, same 200 mg).
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy 4 points
    • Two capsules a serving means a 60-capsule bottle lasts 30 days, and 200 mg is more than half of the 350 mg upper limit for supplemental magnesium. Count magnesium from other supplements, and ask a clinician first if you have kidney disease or take medicines that interact with it.
    • The certificate we read shows 115% of the label amount. That is a normal margin for a mineral, but it means a serving can hold a little over 200 mg.
    • Momentous’s certificate page lists only two batches for this product so far (0136D6 and 0136D6A), because it is recent. Momentous says every batch is tested; check that the lot on your bottle appears on that page.
    • Our guides on why magnesium matters and sleep and stress cover what the research does and does not show for supplementing.
What to know Details worth knowing first

Magnesium comes in many forms. Our guide to the types explains why glycinate-type forms are often chosen for sleep and for sensitive stomachs. Momentous sells magnesium bisglycinate as a capsule: 100 mg of magnesium each, two a serving.

It is on the list for the paper trail. NSF lists the product in its Certified for Sport database, and Momentous publishes batch certificates. The one we read gave the magnesium amount and heavy-metal results in plain numbers, which is what a lab certificate is for. Our other magnesium pick, Thorne’s powder, has the NSF listing but no certificate, and costs more per serving.

Keep the dose in mind: two capsules is 200 mg, and the upper limit for supplemental magnesium is 350 mg a day. Check the lot on your bottle against the certificate page, and see how to tell if a supplement is pure for what these records can and cannot show.

    • Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
    • Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
    • Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
