Vitamins & minerals

Vitamins and minerals checked by an outside tester, in forms and doses the research supports.

What we look for
  • Third-party tested: NSF Certified for Sport, NSF Contents Certified, USP Verified, Informed Choice or Informed Sport, with the exact product in the certifier’s own database.
  • A certificate of analysis: batch results you can read, ideally including heavy metals.
  • The right form: one the research supports (magnesium glycinate or bisglycinate rather than oxide, for example), at a matching dose.
  • A plain label: every ingredient and amount listed, with no proprietary blends.
  • Disclosed extras: sweeteners, fillers and allergens named.
  • Proprietary blends that hide amounts.
  • Doses above the tolerable upper intake level without a reason, such as vitamin D over 4,000 IU, zinc over 40 mg or supplemental magnesium over 350 mg a day.
  • Seals the maker gives itself (“lab tested”, “GMP quality”) with no named testing organization.
  • Cure, detox or “boosts everything” claims.
  • Vitamin K products with no warning for people who take warfarin.
