Nature Made Vitamin D3 2000 IU (50 mcg) Softgels
Reader ratings
A plain 2,000 IU vitamin D3 softgel at a low price, with the USP Verified mark on its label and page. USP’s database refused our automated check, so we have not confirmed the listing.
Best for People who want an inexpensive vitamin D3 with a recognized certifier’s mark on the bottle, and who are fine with soybean oil and gelatin.

How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- One active ingredient: vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol), 50 mcg (2,000 IU) per softgel, one softgel a day with water and a meal, per the label image on the maker’s page.
- The page and the label say “USP has tested and verified ingredients, potency and manufacturing process” and show the USP Verified mark. USP is a named outside program, though we have not seen its listing for this product.
- The other ingredients are short: soybean oil, gelatin and glycerin. The label also says gluten free, no artificial flavors and no color added.
- It is inexpensive: $10.99 for 90 softgels, about $0.12 a day, on the maker’s site on 2026-10-22. 2,000 IU is half the 4,000 IU upper limit for vitamin D.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- We could not open the USP Verified directory (quality-supplements.org returns “Access Denied” to our tools), so the mark is the maker’s claim for now.
- The softgel contains soybean oil and gelatin, so it is not for anyone avoiding soy or animal products. The label image we read dates from 2022, so check the bottle you buy.
- Recall history: FDA’s recall database lists a June 2016 voluntary recall of specific lots of Nature Made Vitamin D3 1000 IU tablets for yeast and mold above specification (a different product, status terminated in 2017). We found no recall of this softgel.
- No certificate of analysis is public, so we cannot show you a result for a lot.
What to know Details worth knowing first
Vitamin D3 is the form most people supplement, and our supplementation guide covers doses and blood testing. This is a plain 2,000 IU softgel at a low price, from a brand whose label names an independent verifier.
The open question is the USP listing, which we have not been able to open and are confirming. It also has no public batch results. For how seals work and what they can and cannot show, see how to tell if a supplement is pure.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist
- Certificate of analysis
- No
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| Third-party tested Maker’s claim | The page and the bottle say USP Verified and show the mark. We could not open USP’s directory. Informed Choice’s public list of certified products names several Nature Made products, including one called “Super D”, but none called Vitamin D3 2000 IU, so we cannot say whether it covers this softgel. |
| A certificate of analysis Not verified | None found on the product page. |
| The right form Maker’s claim | Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol), 50 mcg (2,000 IU) per softgel, from the label image on the maker’s page. |
| A plain label Maker’s claim | One active ingredient with an amount. |
| Disclosed extras Maker’s claim | Soybean oil, gelatin and glycerin, per the label image. Gluten free, no artificial flavors, no color added. |
| Dose against the upper limit Maker’s claim | 2,000 IU against a 4,000 IU upper limit for adults. |
What the labels mean
- Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
- Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
- Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
