How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- NSF’s Certified for Sport database lists “Zinc” from Momentous: capsule, 60 count, one capsule a serving, vegan, with gluten-free and GMO-free claims.
- Momentous posts a certificate for each batch (six for zinc). We opened lot 0285H5, made 13 August 2025: zinc measured 15.7 mg against 15 mg on the label, arsenic 0.032, cadmium 0.007, lead under 0.008 and mercury under 0.003 µg a day, gluten under 20 ppm, and no Salmonella, E. coli or Staph. aureus. The certificate cites SGS for the heavy-metal method.
- The label has one active ingredient, zinc as zinc picolinate, 15 mg, and four other ingredients: rice flour, hypromellose (the capsule), magnesium stearate and silica.
- 15 mg is at the low end of the 15 to 30 mg range that our zinc guide gives for correcting low zinc, and well under the 40 mg upper limit.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- It costs about $20 for 60 capsules, roughly $0.33 a day. Core Med Science’s zinc (30 mg) is cheaper, but it has no batch results online.
- The certificate we read is from a 2025 lot. NSF’s listing shows its lot field as “All”, so check that the lot on your bottle appears on Momentous’s certificate page.
- Our zinc guide says supplements help mainly when you are low, and that long-term high doses without copper can cause copper deficiency. This dose is not a high one.
- Momentous says zinc can be taken on an empty stomach, but that taking it with food may help tolerance.
What to know Details worth knowing first
Our zinc guide says supplements help mainly when you are low, gives 15 to 30 mg a day as the common range for correcting low zinc, and warns about long-term high doses. This capsule delivers 15 mg of zinc as picolinate.
What puts it on the list is the paper trail. NSF lists the product in its Certified for Sport database, and Momentous publishes a certificate for each batch. The one we read shows the zinc amount, heavy metals and microbes with real numbers, and the amount came out close to the label.
It is not the cheapest zinc, and the certificate we opened is from an older lot, so match the lot on your bottle to the page. For timing around other minerals, see do supplements interfere with each other.

It is Momentous’s own document: it cites SGS for the heavy-metal method but is not SGS’s report. Six batches are posted on the maker’s certificate page. |
