Weber Wood Grill Scraper

A hardwood grill scraper with notches that fit the grate, so there are no bristles, fibers or plastic to shed. Weber does not name the wood or any finish, and the claims are the maker’s own.

Best for Grillers who want the simplest bristle-free tool, with nothing but wood touching the grate.

Why we chose it What put it on our list 3 points
    • One material and no small parts. Weber describes a “bristle-free and natural” scraper “made of durable hardwood”, with notches that conform to the cooking grate and a thick scraper edge. There is no wire, plastic or fiber head.
    • It avoids the failure behind the 2026 CPSC recalls of wire-bristle brushes: Nexgrill (over 10.2 million), Cuisinart (over 3.6 million) and Walmart’s Expert Grill (over 4.4 million). Bristles that detach and stick to food are the hazard; a wood scraper has none.
    • Plant-based where it wears. Wood is the only material Weber lists, so what the tool sheds as it wears is wood, not plastic or metal.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy 4 points
    • Weber’s page does not name the wood, any oil or finish, or where the scraper is made.
    • Wood wears into the pattern of your grate and has to be replaced. The page gives no lifespan and no care instructions.
    • No independent test of how well it cleans. The cleaning claims are Weber’s.
    • About $30 on Weber’s site, more than the wire brushes it replaces; the recalled Walmart brushes sold for $1 to $28.
What to know Details worth knowing first

Weber’s scraper is as plain as a grill tool gets: a piece of hardwood cut with notches that match the bars of the grate. You scrape the hot grate with it. Our microplastics guide explains why we prefer tools that do not wear off as plastic, and a wooden scraper has no plastic to wear off.

The reason to choose it over a wire brush is the bristle problem. Metal bristles can detach and end up in food, and recalls in 2026 covered more than 18 million wire brushes. Our guide to cooked meat and cancer risk covers the other side of grilling.

Weber’s page leaves out the details we would want: the kind of wood, any finish, where it is made and how long it lasts. We rate it for what it avoids, not for how well it cleans, which we could not check.
