How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- The GOTS database lists Wear Pact, LLC as certified: license GOTS-33073, Control Union Services SAC, valid to 2 July 2027. Its scope includes women’s apparel undergarments of organic cotton.
- The page states the blend: organic cotton with 5% elastane for stretch and recovery. No polyester or nylon is named in the fabric.
- GOTS’s current standard text (version 8.1, June 2026) lists PFAS and synthetic antimicrobial finishes as prohibited, two things our checklist screens out. See what PFAS are and how to avoid them.
- About $14 a pair on 22 October 2026, against about $17 to $20 for the other organic cotton pairs in this list.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- The page does not say what the waistband elastic, the thread or the dyes are made of. It says only “made without harsh chemicals, toxic dyes, and PFAS”.
- Pact shows no GOTS certificate or license number on the page. We found the license in the database, but could not see which products a given certificate covers.
- Pact calls its factories Fair Trade Certified. We did not check that listing.
- Prices move. Multi-packs and matching sets are priced differently.
What to know Details worth knowing first
Our guide to chemicals in clothing says the word “organic” alone is not a reason to pay more, and that a certification covering the finishing matters more. Pact’s underwear fits that advice: the GOTS database lists the company, and GOTS covers how the fabric is processed and finished, not only how the cotton is grown.
This is the cheapest listed option here. The fabric is organic cotton with 5% elastane, and the page says it is made without PFAS. What it leaves out is the detail: what the waistband elastic, the thread and the dyes are made of.
If you want those named, Subset states its elastics, and Cottonique states its thread and dyes. Wash new underwear before wearing it, as the guide advises.
Quality & testing How it measures up against our checklist
- Tested by
- GOTS database (Control Union Services SAC, Peru)
| What we checked | What we found |
|---|---|
| Certified textiles Verified | The GOTS database lists Wear Pact, LLC: license GOTS-33073, certification body Control Union Services SAC (Peru), valid to 2027-07-02, scope including women’s apparel undergarments. Pact’s page says this product is GOTS and Fair Trade certified and gives no certificate number. |
| Natural fibers, synthetics stated Maker’s claim | Organic cotton with 5% elastane. The waistband elastic is not described. |
| No PFAS finishes Maker’s claim | Pact says “made without harsh chemicals, toxic dyes, and PFAS”. GOTS prohibits PFAS, so the claim fits the license, but what we confirmed is the license, not this garment. |
| No antimicrobial finishes Not verified | Pact does not mention antimicrobial treatments. GOTS (version 8.1 text) prohibits synthetic antimicrobial finishing inputs. |
| Dyes and trims named Not verified | Not stated: no dye type, thread or elastic composition on the page. |
What the labels mean
- Verified We opened an independent record that confirms it: a certifier’s listing, a regulator’s list or a lab report. It is linked under Sources.
- Maker’s claim The maker says so on its own page or label. We read it but found no independent record.
- Not verified We looked and could not confirm it, or the maker does not say. Treat it as unknown.
