Your review
Reviews are personal experiences, not research, and they never change our quality ratings. Every review is read by our team before it appears.
How we evaluated it
Why we chose it What put it on our list
- IKEA names every part: the container is “heat resistant glass”, the lid is “bamboo, clear acrylic lacquer”, and the seal is “silicone rubber”. No plastic.
- Limits are written down: the container is dishwasher safe, oven safe, microwave safe and freezer safe. The bamboo lid withstands up to 210°F, is washed by hand, and is not for the microwave or freezer.
- The price was $9.99 for 34 oz on IKEA’s US site on 2026-10-22, and the 61 oz was $12.99.
Trade-offs What to weigh before you buy
- The lid has a clear acrylic lacquer. That is a coating, and the page does not say whether it faces the food. Our standard asks for no coatings on surfaces that touch food.
- No country of origin, glass type or test report is on the page. IKEA does not say whether spare lids are sold for this size.
- The lid is for the fridge only. It cannot go in the microwave, the oven or the freezer, so you take it off before heating or freezing.
- IKEA’s own page shows 4.4 out of 5 from 950 reviews. In the 20 reviews shown, the low ratings mention a bamboo lid that does not close or seal, glass that broke, and a sticker that would not peel off the lid.
What to know Details worth knowing first
For a few dollars, this is a way to stop storing leftovers in plastic. The container is glass, the seal is silicone, and the lid is bamboo, so nothing plastic touches the food. Our guide to reducing microplastics recommends exactly that swap.
IKEA is unusually plain about the materials and the limits. The catches are the lid’s lacquer and its fit. The lacquer is a coating, and the page does not say whether it is on the side facing the food, and some buyers say the lid does not close or seal well. If either bothers you, the Pyrex set with glass lids avoids both.
Treat it as a fridge container. Take the lid off before the microwave or the freezer, and wash it by hand.
