Baked Cinnamon Apples
Warm, tender baked apples with oats and walnuts — like apple pie filling without the crust or the sugar overload.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Core the apples, leaving the bottoms intact to hold the filling, and set them in a baking dish.
- Mix the oats, walnuts, maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pack the filling into the apple cavities and over the tops.
- Pour 1/2 cup water into the bottom of the dish, cover with foil, and bake 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden. Serve warm.
Tips
- Baking apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Braeburn hold their shape better than softer varieties.
- A dollop of Greek yogurt on top makes it feel extra indulgent.
