Blueberries and dark cherries supply anthocyanins, the pigments that make them purple. Yogurt and milk add protein and calcium, and the cauliflower sneaks in extra vegetable fiber.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into the blender and add the yogurt.
  2. Add the blueberries, cherries, banana, cauliflower rice, and hemp seeds.
  3. Blend on high for a full minute; the cauliflower needs a little time to disappear completely.
  4. Check that the texture is perfectly smooth, adding a splash of milk if it is too thick for a straw.
  5. Pour into cups and serve right away.

Tips

  • Frozen riced cauliflower (in the frozen vegetable aisle) vanishes into berries. If your child is wary, start with a quarter cup and work up.
  • Pour any extra into popsicle molds and freeze overnight for a purple snack pop.
  • If the berries are too tart for little palates, add a pitted date rather than sugar.
  • Berries stain. Use a lidded cup with a straw, and rinse the blender right after pouring.
