Bedding & home

Mattresses, sheets and pillows made without added flame retardants or stain-proofing chemicals.

What we look for
  • Certified fibers: GOTS organic, or at least OEKO-TEX Standard 100, with the certificate number published.
  • No added flame retardants: wool or another natural barrier, and the maker says so.
  • Tested emissions: GREENGUARD Gold or a comparable low-VOC test for mattresses and foam (not expected for sheets).
  • Natural materials: latex, wool, organic cotton or steel springs rather than polyurethane or memory foam.
  • Fair terms: a long sleep trial, a clear return policy and a real warranty.
  • “Eco”, “natural” or “organic” on a label with no certificate number.
  • Chemical flame retardants in foam or fabric.
  • Stain-resistant or water-repellent finishes, which are often PFAS-based.
  • Silver or “antibacterial” fabric treatments, and “anti-acne” bedding with no registration or study.
